Police have not discounted the likelihood that the corpse found on Saturday in RTB Sungai Changgang, Kuala Langat, might be connected to the case involving a local adolescent girl reported missing in Kajang on December 22.

Confirming the find, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the corpse discovered on December 28 was in decay and could not be recognised by physical identification.

In a statement published today, he said, “The body was sent for a post-mortem at Banting Hospital; the police are awaiting DNA analysis results for the identification process.”

The victim’s boyfriend filed the missing person report, according to him, saying the 15-year-old girl had vanished and gone unreachable since the evening of December 19. He then opened a missing person inquiry report.

Hussein stated, following the revelation, that the case had been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, with the motive still under inquiry.

“Currently three suspects, aged 16, 20, and 51, including the victim’s boyfriend, have been remanded for seven days until Jan 5,” he added.

Following a lion dance training session at the Batu 11 basketball court in Cheras on December 19, the media reported on December 22 that 15-year-old Yap Xin Yuan vanished from sight.
