PETALING JAYA: The Good Vibes Festival (GVF) 2024 has been postponed in observance of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim’s coronation as Malaysia’s 17th King.

The music festival’s organiser, Future Sound Asia, shared the news on social media on Monday, July 1.

It was announced that the festival would not be rescheduled, making it the second year in a row that it had been postponed.

In a statement posted on the GVF Instagram page on Monday, July 1, it said, “All GVF ticket purchasers will automatically receive full refunds to the payment methods used for their purchases. Rescheduling the music festival is not possible due to the nature of GVF, which involves multiple touring acts over multiple days.”

The annual music festival was scheduled to take place at Resorts World Awana in Genting Highlands on July 20 and 21. A lineup of well-known international performers was promised.

In 2023, the festival was likewise abruptly cancelled with full refunds following a British band Matt Healy, the lead singer of 1975, made a contentious on-stage gesture while mocking Malaysian legislation.

The 1975 was immediately banned from Malaysia and the festival was immediately cancelled as a result of the severe outcry and condemnation that followed from both the people and the government.
