JOHOR BAHRU: Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman will hold a four-day Muar Thanksgiving Run from the Palace of Justice, Putrajaya to Laman Maharani, Muar starting Thursday, with a target of raising RM200,000 to help those in need in the area.

According to him, the four-day run until Sunday is a gesture of gratitude after going through a long and challenging journey, as well as an appreciation for the community’s support.

He said the funds raised will be channeled to two main initiatives, namely the provision of food baskets to families in need as well as the purchase of iPads to help students who require access to learning devices.

“Throughout that period, I received so many prayers, support and words of encouragement from family, friends, my team and Malaysians, especially the Muar community.

“I do not want this gratitude to stop with me alone. I want to translate it into an effort that can directly benefit the Muar community,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He said, throughout the journey, the run will be broadcast live via TikTok, Facebook and YouTube platforms to enable the public to follow the journey as well as the fundraising progress.

According to him, all donations will be channeled through the official account of the Muar Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre, and the collection progress will be updated periodically.

“After the campaign is completed, a report on the usage and distribution of funds will be shared with the public as part of our commitment to transparency and accountability,” he said.

He expressed hope that the Muar Thanksgiving Run would not merely be a symbol of gratitude, but could be translated into tangible aid and open up better educational opportunities for the Muar community.
