KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Patimah Ismail, the mother of filmmaker Syamsul Yusof, is profoundly upset by her son’s solitary experience with the divorce process.

In an Instagram Story posted today, Patimah conveyed her distress, noting that she “shed tears” as she saw her second of four children ending another marriage.

“Honestly, my heart aches with tears as I watch my son go through this alone. I will keep praying for his well-being and hope that better days are ahead for him,” she shared.

Earlier today, Syamsul and his wife, Ira Kazar, completed their divorce with a single talak at the Kuala Selangor Syariah Lower Court.

Syamsul’s legal representative, syarie lawyer Azmi Mohd Rais, informed the court that Ira had violated the “taklik” (conditions and promises) five times since August 14.

On August 16, Syamsul filed for divorce at the Gombak Timur Syariah Lower Court. The couple had been married on January 6 last year in Southern Thailand.
