Syamsul Yusof reunites with family after two years

KUALA LUMPUR: “Praise be to God. May He make everything easier,” Datin Patimah Ismail wrote in an Instagram story last night.

In her post, the wife of filmmaker Datuk Yusof Haslam shared two photos showing them with their son, film director Syamsul, who had not visited or met them for the past two years. The pictures also featured Syamsul’s daughter Sumayyah and his ex-wife Puteri Sarah Liyana.

Yusof expressed his gratitude for the family reunion. “Alhamdulillah, Syamsul has come back to the family home. We shared a dinner together at my house,” he told Berita Harian today. “Syafiq was also present to welcome his brother. I’m thankful that our prayers have been answered.”

He added that he and his wife had been continuously praying for Syamsul’s return. Syamsul had stopped visiting his family since marrying Ira Kazar in January of the previous year. However, on September 5, he divorced Ira after 21 months of marriage.
