Akon to perform in Kuala Lumpur on November 19
KUALA LUMPUR: Senegalese-American singer, songwriter, and record producer Akon will bring his Akon The Superfan Tour Live to Mega Star Arena in Kuala Lumpur on November 19.
The celebrated artist, famous for hits like “Lonely,” “Sexy Chick,” “Smack That,” “Right Now,” and “Don’t Matter,” will also be performing in Singapore at Arena @ Expo (Hall 7) on November 20.
Akon, an award-winning R&B and hip-hop star, has released five studio albums and worked with numerous artists including Wyclef Jean, Gwen Stefani, Lionel Richie, David Guetta, Pitbull, Madonna, Wonder Girls, Whitney Houston, and Snoop Dogg.
The concerts in both Malaysia and Singapore are organized exclusively by Jeeharris Entertainment, founded by Singaporean singer and actor Harris Baba. The company previously organized five major events in Sabah, including Borneo Mega Raya Fest 2023 and 2024, as well as concerts by Indonesian bands Armada and Ungu.
In a statement released yesterday, Harris revealed, “We started planning Akon’s tour in December last year and it took seven to eight months to finalize the details with my booking agent and Akon’s management. Despite some schedule changes, we confirmed November as the tour date. It’s a significant surprise and blessing for me.”
He added, “What makes this tour special is that Jeeharris Entertainment is the sole organizer bringing the concert to two countries within a month. Akon will perform in several other Asian nations before Malaysia and Singapore, so it’s a great honor for my Sabah-based company to be part of this tour. Akon is our first international star, making this event even more meaningful.”
Harris also mentioned future plans to bring more international stars to Malaysia and Singapore. “Akon is our first international artist, and I am already in talks with other management teams. If all goes well, we aim to bring more artists to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur next year.”
Pre-sale ticket registration for the Akon concerts opens at 10am on September 18, with ticket sales available to registrants the following day. General sales will start on September 20.
