Susan Lankester named Best Actress in a Leading Role at AACA

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian actress Susan Lankester has been recognized as the National Winner for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2024 Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) for her performance in “Raintown.”

The 62-year-old actress, who portrayed Aileen Choo in the touching Cantonese family drama directed by Tunku Mona Riza, shared her excitement on Instagram.

She expressed her gratitude to the cast and crew, writing, “Thank you to The Choos – Chew Kin Wah, Pauline Tan, Wilson Lee, and Fabian Loo. I love you all.”

Lankester also extended her appreciation to the “Raintown” team for their dedication, saying, “Huge thanks to the crew for making the film look, feel, and sound the way it does, and for taking such great care of us both on and off set. Mad respect for all of you.”

In her post, she acknowledged the film’s production team from Current Pictures, including producers Haris Sulong, Shaby Maharom, and Fazlynne Majid, as well as photography director Eric Yeong, art director Ju Min, and editor Isazaly Isa.

The AACA has recently revealed the National Winners who will represent their countries at the Grand Awards and Gala Final scheduled for December 3 and 4 in Singapore. Winners from 16 nations will compete across 41 categories.
