GEORGE TOWN: Two victims who were injured in an incident involving the collapse of a building structure on the first floor of a business premises at Lebuh Armenian here today are Sri Lankan tourists.
Penang Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Division Assistant Director, John Sagun Francis said that the male and female victims are aged 55 and 66 respectively.
“Both victims are tourists and they were scheduled to return home tomorrow. The victims were given initial treatment at the location by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and were subsequently taken to Penang Hospital for further treatment,” he said here today.
However, he informed that his side cannot confirm the relationship between the two victims.
Earlier, Kosmo! Online reported that two individuals sustained injuries after being hit by part of a stone and wooden structure that collapsed from the first floor of a business premises at Lebuh Armenian here today.
The fire department received a call regarding the incident at 1.17 pm today and the collapse is said to have occurred from the beam section on the first floor of the two‑storey premises.
