Six Human Traffickers Charged With Smuggling 10 Bangladeshi Migrants

KOTA BHARU: Six human traffickers, including two women and a Thai national, were charged at the Sessions Court here today with smuggling 10 Bangladeshi migrants in Kampung Sungai Mas, Machang, last month.

However, no plea was recorded from the accused, Muhamad Amirul Aileh (Thai national), 30; Muhammad Arif Abd Halim, 22; Mohamad Hazran Mohd Daud, 34; Mohd Shamsuri Yusoff, 45; Norazalina Mohamad, 40; and Nur Aliya Natasya Abdul Rahman, 20, after the charges were read before Judge Nik Habri Nik Muhamad, as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

They, together with another individual, Wan Mohd Zulfadli Wan Hassan, 37, who is still at large, were charged with carrying out activities to smuggle 10 Bangladeshi migrants.

The offence was allegedly committed at a house in Taman Desa Mas, Kampung Sungai Mas, near Machang, at 8 a.m. on 11 June 2026.

They were charged under Section 26A of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 [Act 670], which is punishable under the same section and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of not more than 20 years and shall also be liable to a fine, or both.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Kamilah Che Ibrahim, while Norazalina was represented by lawyer Ahmad Nurie Abd Rahman, and the other five accused were unrepresented.

The court set 26 July as the next mention date for the case.
