Selangor Police Warn of Fake Raya Donation Scam, Urge Public to Stay Alert

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor police have issued a warning to the public after a fraudulent message circulated, claiming a donation drive was being organized for a Hari Raya celebration.

In a statement on Wednesday, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar firmly denied that the police had initiated or endorsed any such fundraising effort for the upcoming festive season.

According to the message, the event was allegedly scheduled to take place on March 26 at the Selangor Police Headquarters (IPK) Multipurpose Hall, with donations requested to be transferred to an MBSB Bank account under the name “Norfadiliah Md Nor.”

However, authorities have confirmed that the message is false and part of a scam designed to deceive the public, generate незаконные profits, and damage the reputation of the police force.

“The public is advised not to be misled by this message and to refrain from making any financial transactions to the account mentioned,” said Shazeli.

He added that individuals who may have already transferred funds are strongly encouraged to lodge a report at their nearest police station.

The police also stressed that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible for misusing the name or identity of law enforcement agencies for fraudulent purposes.

Authorities continue to remind the public to verify information from official sources, especially during festive seasons when scams tend to increase.
