Saudi Arabia opposes the displacement of Gazans and refuses to establish relations with Israel without the creation of a Palestinian state

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its unwavering stance that Palestinians must have an independent state, rejecting any negotiations on the matter. The Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized that normalization with Israel hinges on the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The statement followed remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who proposed relocating Gazans to other countries and having the U.S. take control of Gaza, an idea widely condemned by Saudi Arabia and the international community.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated this position in major speeches, including at the Shura Council and the Arab-Islamic Summit, urging global recognition of Palestine and rejecting Israeli settlement policies, annexation, or forced displacement of Palestinians.

Trump’s proposal was met with global criticism. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Turkey, Egypt, Spain, France, Russia, and the UK all rejected the idea, reaffirming support for Palestinian self-determination. The UN also condemned any forced displacement as a violation of international law.
