Royal Malaysia Police have arrested a Bangladeshi petrol station worker to assist in investigations into the alleged misuse of subsidised BUDI MADANI RON95 fuel quotas in Kupang, Baling.

Baling district police chief Brandon Richard Joe said the arrest followed a police report lodged by a 57-year-old businessman from Selangor who discovered that his subsidised fuel allocation had been unlawfully used by another party.

According to police, the complainant became aware of the issue while visiting a petrol station in Setia Alam at around 4.48pm on April 8. He later checked the BUDI95 application and found multiple fuel transactions carried out using his identification card number at a petrol station in Kupang.

Initial investigations revealed that six separate RON95 fuel transactions had been conducted between March 18 and April 8, involving a total of 309.038 litres of subsidised petrol worth RM1,242.33.

Police subsequently detained a 34-year-old Bangladeshi national working as a cashier at the petrol station. The suspect has been remanded for four days beginning today to facilitate investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

Authorities also confirmed that they are tracking down a local individual believed to be connected to the case.

The incident has raised concerns over possible abuse of Malaysia’s subsidised fuel system, with investigators working to determine how the victim’s personal details were allegedly used to access the fuel quota illegally.
