Rizman Ruzaini will showcase Baju Melayu-inspired attire for the Malaysian squad at the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony
PETALING JAYA: At the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024 on July 26, the national team will be dressed in baju Melayu inspired clothing designed by Malaysian fashion label Rizman Ruzaini.
Chef de mission (CDM) Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin of the Paris Olympics confirmed this, according to the English daily The Star, and it would soon be made public.
These are going to be traditional with a baju Melayu theme. He made these remarks during a news conference held this afternoon at the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM). “We have finalised the design and will show it to the public soon.”
The glamorous creation created by Malaysian fashion pair Rizman Ruzaini caused a stir when it was worn by American diva Lady Gaga during a show in Las Vegas.
The official attire of the national delegation for the same athletic event will now have a new design by OCM with tiger stripes that appear fiercer.
The prior tiger motif design was deemed to be too subdued, according to mixed feedback, which is why OCM president Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria reportedly stated that the alteration was implemented.
The updated design, according to Mohammed Norza, has a black backdrop with broader, more noticeable yellow tiger stripes on the front and rear of the jacket.
