Rapid KL Confirms Passenger Fell Onto Track at Gombak Station

KUALA LUMPUR: Rapid KL has confirmed that a passenger is believed to have fainted before falling onto the track at Gombak Station in an incident around 9.05 am today.

The company in a statement said, the passenger was successfully helped out of the track area and brought to the emergency room while waiting for the arrival of an ambulance.

“Immediately after the incident occurred, the Platform Intrusion Emergency Stop (PIES) system was activated and the power supply to the track was also temporarily cut off as a safety measure to enable the operations team and auxiliary police to take immediate action,” according to Rapid KL in the statement.

Rapid KL added, the passenger has been taken to Tawakal Kuala Lumpur Hospital for further examination and treatment.

It said, further inspection found that the track was in a safe condition, while train operations were resumed at 9.12 am.

Rapid KL also advised passengers to obtain the latest information through Rapid KL’s official social media channels.

Earlier, a photo of a woman believed to have fallen onto the track at the Gombak Light Rail Transit (LRT) Station went viral on social media, in this morning’s incident.
