KUALA LUMPUR: Puteri UMNO Malaysia has welcomed the unanimous decision of the Federal Court directing that the judicial review concerning the Addendum Decree of Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak be expedited for hearing at the High Court.

Puteri UMNO Chief, Datuk Nurul Amal Fauzi, said the decision brought relief to efforts in seeking justice for the former Prime Minister.

“Puteri UMNO is grateful to Allah and will remain committed to using all avenues to secure the rightful defence,” she said in a statement on Friday.

On Wednesday, the Attorney-General failed to overturn the Court of Appeal’s decision allowing Datuk Seri Najib Razak to commence judicial review proceedings to compel the government to answer and confirm the existence of the Addendum Decree.

The Addendum Decree was reportedly granted by the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 29 January last year, allowing the former Prime Minister to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest, in relation to his conviction involving the misappropriation of RM42 million from SRC International Sdn Bhd.

The Attorney-General, as the appellant, also failed to set aside the Court of Appeal’s decision permitting Najib to submit additional evidence in support of his judicial review application.

In another development, Nurul Amal also stressed Puteri UMNO’s firm stance on the issue of improper installation and display of the Jalur Gemilang recently.

“Repeated offences in displaying the national flag constitute a desecration of the nation’s dignity and sovereignty.

“Firm action without exception, including prosecution, must be taken against any party that is negligent or deliberately disregards this matter,” she said.

She added that every Jalur Gemilang must be hoisted with full respect as a symbol of pride for Malaysians, in line with the spirit of Articles 152 and 153 of the Federal Constitution.
