According to the Saudi Press Agency, Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, stressed how important it was to step up efforts to help orphans get full care and funding.

Every year on the 15th of Ramadan, the Islamic world celebrates Orphan’s Day. He said those things to bring attention to the problems orphaned children in the world’s poorest areas face.

Taha called for more to be done to protect and care for orphans, especially in places where disasters, war, and climate change have caused people to flee their homes and leave their children exposed.

He said that the OIC would continue to fight for the rights and better support systems for millions of orphans and vulnerable children, including better orphanages, foster care, adoption services, healthcare, and education.

The SPA said that Taha stressed the need for governments, societies, and institutions to work to find long-term solutions.

He talked about how the Qur’an and the Sunnah make it clear that Muslims should be kind to orphans, make sure they get care, schooling, health care, and social support, protect their rights, and raise them properly.

The OIC Council of Foreign Ministers created Orphan’s Day at its 40th meeting in Conakry, Guinea, in December 2013. The goal was to bring attention to the problems and needs of orphans.
