Police investigate TLDM members brawling at the Stadium

LUMUT: The police are conducting an investigation into the incident of a fight involving members of the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) at the Lumut TLDM Base Stadium, last Monday.

Berita Harian reports, Manjung District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamed Nordin Abdullah, said in the incident at 7.15 that night, a 26-year-old man was injured in the face, right rib, left neck and head as a result of being beaten up.

According to him, the victim was attacked while watching a football match between the Lumut TLDM Base Headquarters unit (MKPL) and the Naval Special Forces (PASKAL).

“The victim claimed that PASKAL supporters in the stadium hit him en masse because they were not satisfied.

“The victim claims, the assailant accused him of showing them the middle finger while the victim did not do so.

“The victim who was injured in the face, right rib, left neck and head has received treatment at the Armed Forces Hospital,” he said in a statement.

Mohamed Nordin said the victim made a police report at 12.53pm last Tuesday.

According to him, the case is considered according to Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

If convicted, the suspect can be sentenced to a maximum of two years in prison or a fine, or both.

“The public is advised not to make any speculations that could affect the investigation.

“Those who have any information can contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Mohd Nazari Yaakob at 017-5729646 to assist the police investigation,” he said.

A 17-second video of the fight went viral on social media since Tuesday, showing a group of men believed to be TLDM members pushing and shoving outside the Lumut TLDM Stadium grounds.
