KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to have an audience with the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, next week in Bandar Seri Begawan in conjunction with the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation (ALC) between Malaysia and Brunei.

Anwar said, he received a telephone call from the Sultan of Brunei who inquired about his health condition and prayed for his health and well-being.

“His Majesty, with great concern, asked after my well-being and prayed for my health and well-being.

“I am deeply grateful for His Majesty’s prayers and concern.

“I also pray that His Majesty is always blessed with good health and remains under the protection and grace of Allah SWT,” he said in the post.

“God willing, I will have an audience with His Majesty next week in Bandar Seri Begawan in conjunction with the 27th Annual Leaders’ Consultation between Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam.”

The ALC is the highest bilateral mechanism between Malaysia and Brunei, which provides a platform for both leaders to review existing cooperation, discuss new issues and exchange views on regional and international matters of mutual interest.

The meeting will take place not long after Anwar underwent an elective laparoscopic procedure to treat an abdominal hernia on August 10.

The Chief of the Prime Minister’s medical team, Datuk Dr Asri Rangga Abdullah Ramaiah, said the procedure was carried out smoothly under the care of a team of medical specialists.

The Prime Minister’s Senior Press Secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, previously said the Prime Minister underwent a health check-up and will be under observation for two days.
