KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today received a courtesy visit from Kuala Lumpur’s newly appointed mayor, Dato’ Fadlun Mak Ujud, where both leaders discussed several key development priorities aimed at strengthening the future of Malaysia’s capital city.

In a statement, Anwar said the meeting focused on advancing major urban initiatives, including efforts to revitalize the River of Life project, setting clearer long-term development directions for the city, accelerating approvals via the One Stop Centre (OSC), and enhancing the ecosystem for hawkers and small traders.

The Prime Minister emphasized that small business operators must continue to be given fair space, support, and economic opportunities as part of a more inclusive city economy.

“I am confident that his professional expertise and prior experience will strengthen the implementation of more sustainable development, ensuring Kuala Lumpur continues to progress as a competitive, liveable global capital aligned with MADANI values,” Anwar said.

He also extended his well wishes to Dato’ Fadlun in carrying out his new responsibilities, while acknowledging the contributions of former mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif.

Anwar expressed hope that Kuala Lumpur will continue to elevate its image and global standing through effective leadership and cohesive urban planning.
