PAS Ready for Possibility of Cooperation with BN

KOTA BHARU: PAS is prepared for any possibility, including whether or not it will cooperate with Barisan Nasional (BN) in facing the Melaka State Election.

PAS Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party machinery would abide by whatever decision is made by the party.

“Regarding BN holding discussions with other coalitions, I am not certain, and we are prepared whether there is cooperation or not.

“However, PAS, together with its political allies, will make every effort to achieve victory in the Melaka State Election.

“PAS has never taken any election lightly, and we hope the momentum of success in Negeri Sembilan can be continued in Melaka,” he said when contacted.

Media reports yesterday said BN had confirmed that it would hold two separate meetings with two different groups next week to discuss political cooperation ahead of the Melaka State Election.

BN Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported as saying that the two meetings had been arranged by the BN headquarters on different dates and at different times.

However, he did not disclose the identities of the two groups or whether they involved Perikatan Nasional (PN), Pakatan Harapan (PH) or other parties.

Elaborating, Tuan Ibrahim, who is also the Kubang Kerian Member of Parliament, said PAS and PN had made early preparations, with the state-level election machinery already launched.
