In 2008, the United Nations Secretary-General initiated the UNiTE by 2030 campaign to eradicate violence against women. The campaign’s signature color is orange. Orange, a vibrant and optimistic hue, symbolizes a future devoid of violence against women and girls.

The UNiTE campaign focuses on a specific theme each year in support of the global, civil-society-led 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign. This campaign commences on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and concludes on 10 December, Human Rights Day.

From November 25 to December 10, each year, UNiTE urges individuals worldwide to don orange and take action to eradicate violence against women and girls in schools, workplaces, public spaces, communities, and homes, regardless of whether they are in times of peace or conflict.
