NS Election: All 401 Polling Centres Open at 8 am

SEREMBAN: A total of 401 polling centres involving 1,668 channels for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) opened simultaneously starting at 8 am today, allowing 859,760 registered voters, including 7,391 postal voters, to fulfil their responsibility of electing representatives and determining the state government for the coming term.

The voting process is scheduled to take place until 6 pm today, with polling centres involving schools, community halls, dewan and colleges.

The Election Commission (SPR) targets 72 to 75 per cent of voters to fulfil their responsibility today, while early results are expected to be announced as early as 10 pm and full results before midnight.

A total of 91.06 per cent or 14,995 early voters fulfilled their respective responsibilities on 28 July, thus exceeding the SPR’s target of 90 per cent.

Meanwhile, a BERNAMA check at several locations found that weather conditions in most areas were good this morning.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) forecast, most areas in the seven districts of Seremban, Jempol, Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Tampin, Port Dickson and Rembau are expected to be clear from morning until noon.

However, in the afternoon, most areas in the state are expected to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election sees 103 candidates contesting for 36 DUN seats, with Pakatan Harapan (PH) contesting all seats, followed by Barisan Nasional (BN) (25), Bersatu (24), Perikatan Nasional (PN) (11) and four Independent candidates, while Barisan Jamaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa), Parti Orang Asli Malaysia (ASLI) and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) each fielded one candidate.
