The leader of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, told Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that the state government should stay the same for now, with Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun in charge.
Additionally, the prime minister stated that the Negri State Assembly will not be “dissolved.”
He told all the Negri state representatives to follow the royal order because now is not the time to make rushed choices that will hurt the people and make the government unstable.
The meeting happened on Monday night, April 27, to talk about the problems in the state government caused by 14 Umno state members quitting their support for Aminuddin. Earlier this week (April 28), he spoke to the media after leading the project launch for UCSI University’s campus growth here.
Also, Anwar said that the “simple majority” agreement made by 14 Barisan Nasional state reps and five Perikatan Nasional state reps does not work right now. The call from Tuanku Muhriz was for Aminuddin to stay on as MB for now, for the good of the people and the state.
“The MB agreed and will keep doing his job until the problems with the state constitution are fixed.”
Right now, I told the Mentri Besar to keep things running as normal, and the legal process is not being slowed down. Also, we don’t get in the way of the legal process; we let it go as it should, without getting into issues with the monarchy or the Undang, which we value, or bringing up other issues.
“The problem now isn’t with the state constitution or the Mentri Besar. It’s with how the state laws are being interpreted, which involves the Yang di-Pertuan Besar and the Undang.”
“This is not at all within our national jurisdiction.” We accept and value what is happening in the state, and we honor the Malay rulers’ right to be in charge. For the issue to be resolved, the Mentri Besar must follow the ruler’s instructions.
“It is not fair to deny (the MB) his position quickly and cause political instability,” he said. “Our only goal is to protect the state’s interests and treat the institution of the Malay rulers with respect,” Anwar said.
Besides that, he said that the Madani government would protect the ruling institution’s honor.
“I want to stress that when dealing with issues involving the royal institution, care must be taken to protect the monarchial system’s honor and dignity. This is what we want to do. That’s why we don’t say certain things, and constitutional issues should be settled by the rule of law. ” Because we have adopted this system, I want to stress how important it is to protect the position and honor of the royal institution,” Anwar said.
He said he hadn’t given the state government a specific due date to fix the issue.
I can’t give a firm date because it’s best to give everyone time to negotiate properly. The people who make decisions must know how the law works in Negri Sembilan. For instance, when the Mentri Besar is appointed, the four Undang are involved. The same is true when someone quits. That’s why it’s not necessarily easy.
“That’s why I think we need to keep the peace in our country and focus on solving the current economic problems and crisis. “Now is not the time for political fighting among ourselves,” Anwar said.
The Prime Minister told the Barisan representatives that they should follow the royal decree when they decide to work with the Perikatan officials.
“So far, I understand that the royal decree says the state government should keep doing what it’s doing until changes need to be made.
“I might meet with Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the president of Umno, today (April 28).” Dissolving (the structure) hasn’t been a problem so far. Based on what we’ve talked about and what His Majesty has said, the government should keep running while other legal processes take place, he said.
The assemblymen of Negri Sembilan Barisan stopped supporting the government led by Aminuddin on April 27.
All 14 Umno assemblymen in the state have lost faith in Aminuddin’s leadership because of how he handled the state royal issue, according to Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, the head of Umno in the state.
Pakatan Harapan has 17 seats in the state assembly, while Perikatan Nasional only has five. Barrisan has 14.
On April 19, the four Undang agreed to remove the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir for bad behavior, which was the start of the state’s royal crisis.
These four are the Undang of Sungei Ujong, comprised of Datuk Mubarak Dohak, Datuk Maarof Mat Rashad, Datuk Muhammed Abdullah of Johol, and Datuk Abdul Rahim Yasin of Rembau.
Last night (April 27), Jalaluddin said in a statement that Barisan had won a clear majority and would be forming the state government because Perikatan had decided to back it.
Out of the 36 places in the state legislature, 14 are held by Barisan and 5 by Perikatan. Pakatan Harapan has the last 17 seats. Please write a new news story with a new title.
