Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Announces Public Holiday for Tomorrow

SEREMBAN: The Menteri Besar, Datuk Ismail Lasim, who took his oath of office this morning, has announced a public holiday for Negeri Sembilan tomorrow.

He said that the announcement was made in appreciation of all parties who worked tirelessly in facing the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN).

“As an appreciation for the people’s commitment in facing the PRN, I announce a public holiday tomorrow,” he said at a press conference at Seri Menanti Resort here a while ago.

Also present was the State Secretary, Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim.

Ismail, who is also the Juasseh State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) member, took his oath as Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan at Balairung Seri, Istana Besar Seri Menanti this morning.

Ismail, 67, who is also the Deputy Chairman of UMNO Negeri Sembilan, performed the oath‑taking ceremony at 11.37 am before the Yang di‑Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

Also witnessing the ceremony were the Tunku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Tengku Besar Mahmud, together with their two children, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Ali Redhauddin and Tunku Zain Al’Abidin.

Also present were the Undang Luak Sungei Ujong, Datuk Muhammad Faris Johari, and the Undang Luak Rembau, Datuk Hassan Ab Hamid.

Also in attendance was the Deputy Chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN), Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, as well as the people’s representatives of Negeri Sembilan.

In yesterday’s Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN), Ismail retained BN’s dominance in the Juasseh DUN and was announced the winner with a majority of 4,323 votes, defeating Mohd Zuhaimi Md Yusof (BERSATU) and Mohd Aidil Abdullah (Pakatan Harapan).
