Minister of Religious Affairs claims that the department consistently opposes extremist ideologies

KUALA LUMPUR: According to its Minister, Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) (Religious Affairs) has always rejected extremist ideology.

He called on everyone to keep defending the ideals of kindness and charity while fortifying the nation’s security with the concept of moderation (wasatiyyah).

“Everyone involved has been asked to maintain composure and have complete faith in the authorities, particularly the Royal Malaysia Police, to carry out an exhaustive probe.

In a statement released today, he stated that “anyone involved in this criminal incident must be brought to justice to serve as a lesson to all.”

Three people were slain in yesterday’s 2.45 a.m. attack at the Ulu Tiram police station. The 21-year-old suspect, two police officers, Constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, and Constable Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said, 24.

Corporal Mohd Hasif Roslan, another police officer hurt in the incident, is receiving treatment at Sultan Ismail Hospital and is said to be in stable condition.

Additionally, Mohd Na’im sent his sympathies to Muhammad Syafiq’s and Ahmad Azza Fahmi’s families.

He prayed for both families to have the fortitude and endurance to get through this difficult phase. – Bernama
