MetMalaysia Issues Nationwide Thunderstorm Alert Affecting KL, Putrajaya and 11 States Until Early Friday
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan, and 11 states across the country until 2am on Friday (April 10).
In a statement released on Thursday (April 9), MetMalaysia said the adverse weather conditions are expected to impact the entire states of Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka.
In Kedah, the affected areas include Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu. Meanwhile, in Johor, the warning is focused on the Segamat district.
The alert also extends to Sabah, particularly in the interior regions of Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Nabawan, and Keningau.
In Sarawak, the warning covers several , including Julau in Sarikei, Kanowit and Selangau in Sibu, Song and Kapit in the Kapit division, Tatau in Bintulu, Beluru, Telang Usan, and Marudi in Miri, as well as Limbang.
MetMalaysia has advised the public in affected areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions, as the severe weather may lead to flash floods, fallen trees, and hazardous road conditions.
