Malaysian Academic Showcases AI-Driven Mobile Learning at Prestigious ICHiSS 2025 Conference in Thailand
SONGKHLA, THAILAND (Voice of Malaysia): The 17th International Conference on Humanities and Social Sciences (ICHiSS 2025) kicked off in Songkhla, Thailand, bringing together distinguished scholars, academics, and thought leaders from across the ASEAN region. The conference serves as a platform to explore current issues and future directions in education, technology, and the social sciences.
Among the most anticipated speakers was Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Jessica Ong Hai Liaw FCILT from the Faculty of Defence Studies and Management, National Defence University of Malaysia (UPNM) and Chairperson of WiLAT CILT Malaysia. Her research presentation, titled “Adoption and Impact of AI-Enhanced Mobile Learning in Malaysian Higher Education,” captivated the audience with fresh insights into how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming mobile learning environments across the country.

Dr. Ong’s study emphasizes the rapid integration of AI into digital education, highlighting its role in enhancing content delivery, supporting real-time feedback, and personalizing the learning experience. She noted that mobile learning, powered by AI, is not only improving accessibility but also reshaping how students interact with educational content.
“AI-enhanced mobile learning allows for greater adaptability to individual learning styles and removes many of the traditional barriers to education,” she explained during her presentation.
Using a qualitative research approach, Dr. Ong analyzed existing academic literature, journal articles, and policy reports to evaluate the key drivers and obstacles to mobile learning adoption in Malaysia. She referenced established theoretical frameworks such as the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), which help explain student behavioral intentions toward adopting mobile learning technologies. The research also addressed critical challenges such as digital infrastructure limitations, data privacy concerns, and the importance of faculty readiness and training. Dr. Ong called for comprehensive national strategies to ensure the equitable and ethical deployment of AI in higher education. Her session concluded with strategic recommendations on how Malaysian universities can further leverage AI tools to improve educational outcomes and promote lifelong learning.

As the ICHiSS 2025 conference continues, sessions will cover a wide range of pressing topics, including digital transformation, inclusive education, socio-political dynamics, and regional cooperation for sustainable development. The event runs throughout the weekend and continues to be a hub for academic dialogue and innovation in Southeast Asia.
