KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Defence Minister, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, today received a farewell courtesy call from Türkiye’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Emir Salim Yüksel, who is set to conclude his diplomatic service in Kuala Lumpur on May 31.

During his tenure, Malaysia–Türkiye relations have seen significant strengthening, particularly in the defence sector, with both nations achieving a high level of strategic cooperation. The growing partnership has delivered key outcomes that enhance Malaysia’s defence capabilities.

Among the notable achievements are the procurement of Littoral Mission Ship (LMS) Batch 2 assets for the Royal Malaysian Navy and the acquisition of ANKA unmanned aerial vehicles for the Royal Malaysian Air Force. These developments reflect deepening defence collaboration and technological exchange between the two countries.

In addition, the signing of government-to-government (G2G) defence procurement agreements has further reinforced bilateral defence ties, contributing to a more robust and integrated defence ecosystem while boosting the overall readiness of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

The Ministry of Defence expressed its appreciation for Ambassador Yüksel’s contributions in advancing Malaysia and Türkiye relations and extended its best wishes as he prepares to take on his next diplomatic assignment in Colombia.
