PUTRAJAYA, Sept 21 (VoM): Malaysia has firmly rejected what it described as malicious attempts to misinterpret its long-standing political support and humanitarian efforts for the Palestinian people.

In a statement released on Sunday, the government reiterated that Malaysia has consistently upheld the principles of peace, justice, respect for the United Nations Charter and international law, and peaceful coexistence among nations, principles that have guided its foreign policy since independence.

“Malaysia’s steadfast support for the Palestinians’ struggle for peace, justice, freedom, and independence, and its opposition to the occupation and genocide committed by the Zionist Israeli regime, are fully in line with universally recognized principles,” the statement read.

The government stressed that it will continue working constructively with the international community to provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinians and to pursue lasting peace, which includes the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Malaysia further underscored that justice and accountability are essential for peace to prevail, calling for Israel to be held responsible for “the gross injustices and persistent violations of international law” it continues to commit against the Palestinian people.
