Malaysia is doing a lot to fight cross-border crime. In fact, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Shamsul Anuar Nasarah emphasized that Malaysia played a significant role in developing the Action Plan to Combat Cross-Border Crime.

The work plan for the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting on Cross-Border Crime (SOMTC) covers the years 2026–2028, while the Border Crime plan extends from 2026 to 2035.
Based on Shamsul Anuar, the new plan and work program will guide how ASEAN deals with crime for the next ten years.
“Our goal is to make sure this plan works and is ready to deal with new threats like terrorism, cybercrime, human trafficking, and smuggling migrants.” We also want to work closely with friends like Russia and are open to their help and ideas.
“Malaysia thinks that strong gun control and following international law are necessary for peace in the region.” “We support talking things out and building trust to keep the area safe,” he said.
The 13th International High Representative Meeting on Security Affairs (13th HROSM) and the ASEAN-Russia High Representative Consultations on Security Issues took place in Moscow, Russia. This is what he said.
SV Lavrov, the Russian Federation’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, led the meeting.
Shamsul Anuar said that Malaysia was pleased with the progress made in the Comprehensive Action Plan for the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership 2026–2030. He thought that this plan could help the two countries work together better in important areas.
“We support the SOMTC + Russia Work Plan (2025–2028) to fight crimes that happen across borders, like trafficking in people, illegal immigration, and cybercrime.” He said, “We hope that this plan can be finished and agreed upon soon.”

“Malaysia is still fully committed to working closely with ASEAN and Russia to keep this partnership strong,”

“Useful and relevant to everyone,” he said.
