KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has expressed Malaysia’s sympathy and support to the United Arab Emirates following escalating tensions in the Middle East linked to Iran’s response to attacks allegedly carried out by Israel with support from the United States.

According to the Prime Minister, the message of solidarity was conveyed during a telephone conversation with the UAE President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two leaders discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the region and exchanged views on the broader security implications stemming from the ongoing confrontation involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. In a statement shared on social media, Anwar said both leaders emphasized the importance of restraint and peaceful dialogue in resolving the crisis.

“We expressed mutual hope that all parties will prioritize peaceful dialogue and take care to avoid any actions that could compromise regional stability and global security,” he said. During the conversation, Anwar also conveyed appreciation to the UAE government for its continued efforts to safeguard the well-being of approximately 10,000 Malaysians currently residing in the country. He noted that Malaysia values the UAE’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of its citizens amid the uncertain regional security environment.

The Prime Minister further expressed hope that the holy month of Ramadan would strengthen unity among the Muslim ummah and encourage greater cooperation toward lasting peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond. The exchange between the two leaders comes at a time when tensions across the Middle East remain high, with concerns growing over the potential impact of the conflict on regional and global security.
