Malaysia Urges Peaceful Dialogue to Resolve West Asia Crisis at BRICS Meeting
NEW DELHI: Malaysia has reaffirmed its position that all conflicts and disputes in West Asia must be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy and respect for international law, according to Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan.

The minister said Malaysia conveyed the stance during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held on the sidelines of the BRICS Partners Foreign Ministers’ Meeting 2026 in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Mohamad said the discussions included updates on the ongoing conflicts in West Asia, which continue to affect regional stability and international security.
“Malaysia maintains that all disputes should be resolved through dialogue, diplomacy and adherence to international law in order to ensure peace, stability and security in the region,” he said in a Facebook post.
During the BRICS-related engagements, Mohamad also held bilateral talks with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Eduardo Rodríguez Parrilla.
According to him, the discussions focused on current geopolitical and economic developments in Cuba, as well as the latest situation in West Asia, which remains a major concern for the international community.
Mohamad said the Cuban minister expressed appreciation for Malaysia’s support in efforts to end the unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States on Cuba.
He added that Malaysia and Cuba remain committed to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation on international platforms such as BRICS, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Group of 77.
In a separate engagement, Mohamad also paid a courtesy call on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his office in Seeva Teerth, New Delhi.
He said Modi welcomed the BRICS delegates and shared India’s views on strengthening cooperation within the BRICS framework, particularly toward building closer, more inclusive and mutually beneficial partnerships among member and partner countries.
