King Sultan Ibrahim Tours UAE Defence Manufacturing Hubs During Official Abu Dhabi Visit

KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, paid a visit to two state-of-the-art defense technology and manufacturing facilities operated by the United Arab Emirates’ leading defense conglomerate, EDGE Group, during his official visit to Abu Dhabi.

According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page on Tuesday (Dec 23), the visit formed part of His Majesty’s special visit to the UAE, which commenced on Monday (Dec 22).

The King first visited NIMR, located at the Tawazun Industrial Centre, where he was welcomed by EDGE managing director and chief executive officer Hamad Al Marar. Sultan Ibrahim was later briefed on the company’s defense capabilities and innovations by EDGE Platform and Systems Cluster president Khaled Al Zaabi.

NIMR is renowned for designing and manufacturing high-performance military vehicles used by armed forces and security agencies worldwide.

Following the visit to NIMR, His Majesty proceeded to Caracal, another EDGE Group subsidiary known internationally for its small arms manufacturing. Upon arrival, the king was received by Caracal chief executive officer Hamad Al Ameri.

During the tour, Sultan Ibrahim was introduced to Caracal’s latest firearms technologies and production processes. His Majesty also showcased his marksmanship skills by firing a CSR-308 sniper rifle at a 100-meter shooting range, drawing attention to the advanced capabilities of the weapon system.

The visit highlights Malaysia’s continued engagement with strategic defense partners and reflects the king’s keen interest in advanced defense technology and security cooperation between Malaysia and the UAE.
