“King, Queen and National Leaders Mark Aidilfitri with Prayers at Istana Negara”

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Permaisuri Agong Raja Zarith Sofiah led the nation’s Aidilfitri celebrations by performing the Hari Raya prayers at the Surau Utama of Istana Negara today.

The special prayers were joined by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, along with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his spouse Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis.

Also in attendance were several Cabinet ministers, including Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan.

Senior national figures such as Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Dr. Johari Abdul and Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh, as well as foreign representatives, were also present.

The royal couple and congregation began with takbir raya before performing the Aidilfitri prayers, followed by a sermon titled “Syawal: Rising from Trials, United in Faith.”

The sermon highlighted the importance of unity, resilience, and compassion while reminding Muslims not to forget those affected by ongoing conflicts in West Asia. Worshippers were urged to strengthen solidarity, avoid divisions, and preserve peace within society.

It also called on the public to adopt moderation in spending amid global uncertainty caused by conflicts and economic instability.

Following the sermon, Their Majesties greeted members of the congregation before proceeding to a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering, marking the occasion with a spirit of unity and togetherness.
