KHUZESTAN: Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced on Wednesday that its air defense units successfully intercepted and destroyed a hostile unmanned aerial vehicle over the southwestern province of Khuzestan.

According to a statement from the provincial IRGC public relations department, the drone was targeted while hovering over southern Iran, with the interception carried out under the control of Iran’s integrated air defense network.

This follows previous actions by IRGC air defenses, which recently shot down two intruding Hermes drones over Dokouheh district in Andimeshk County, Khuzestan Province, as well as another Hermes drone over Tehran. The operations were executed using Iran’s advanced national air defense systems.

Since the start of the ongoing US-Israeli military aggression in February, Iranian forces have destroyed more than 130 hostile drones and have also struck several intruding fighter jets.

The conflict began on February 28 with the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, alongside several senior military commanders and civilians. The unprovoked attacks targeted both military and civilian infrastructure across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage.

In retaliation, Iranian armed forces have carried out over 80 waves of missile and drone strikes targeting US interests in West Asia and Israeli positions in the occupied territories.

The IRGC emphasized that its integrated air defense network continues to monitor and defend Iranian airspace against hostile incursions, underscoring Tehran’s commitment to national security amid ongoing foreign aggression.
