Tehran, June 16, 2025: A top Iranian military source said that in the last 48 hours, Iranian border security forces have successfully stopped and destroyed 44 Israeli drones and quadcopters that tried to enter Iranian airspace.
Brigadier General Ahmad-Ali Goudarzi, who is responsible for Iran’s Border Police, said on Sunday that the unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed across several border areas before they could do any spying or other bad things.
“These drones tried to enter Iranian airspace, but our brave and alert border guards quickly found them and destroyed them,” General Goudarzi said.
He stressed that Iranian forces are always ready to protect the country’s sovereignty and that any attempts to invade by “terrorist groups, armed gangs, or hostile entities” will be met with a strong and decisive reaction.
Israeli aggression causes things to get worse.
Israel recently attacked civilian and military targets from the air in Tehran and several other major Iranian towns early on Friday. This activity by drones comes after those attacks.
The Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) responded by starting Operation True Promise III later that same night. The IRGC fired a significant number of missiles at the occupied Palestinian areas, specifically targeting Israeli infrastructure.
Iran Hits Back at Important Targets
Reports say that Iran has attacked a number of important military and industrial sites in Israel. These include oil refineries and power lines in Haifa, a port city in the north where big fires broke out on Saturday night.
Tehran has said that its military reaction was well-thought-out and legal as a form of self-defense under international law.
Officials from Iran said, “We didn’t start this war, but if Israel keeps being aggressive, the response will be even stronger and more devastating.”
Rising tensions in the region
The most recent flare-up has caused worry in the Middle East and beyond. Analysts say that if these actions don’t stop, they could involve other groups in the neighborhood in a bigger conflict.
Iran’s leaders have asked neighboring countries and the rest of the world many times to condemn Israel’s actions and stop strikes on sovereign nations from happening in foreign airspace.
