Improve existing governance in the Federal Territory to attract investment
KUALA LUMPUR: A high-level meeting on the Industrial Cluster Development Initiative was held to explore potential strategic collaborations among Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka through industrial clusters.
According to the Wilayahku portal, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, made this statement after attending the meeting in the Central Region yesterday.
Zaliha noted that the meeting was chaired by the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
“An explanation was also provided regarding the Proposed Framework for the Industrial Cluster Development Initiative in the Central Region, presented by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).
“During the meeting, I emphasized the need to improve the existing governance in the Federal Territory as an initial step to attract more investment opportunities to Kuala Lumpur,” she said on Facebook.
Meanwhile, Zaliha also mentioned that she informed the meeting that the Kuala Lumpur Local Plan 2040 (PTKL2040) has identified 21 areas for industrial cluster focus.
She expressed hope that these efforts would further stimulate economic growth and create job opportunities.
“This will certainly benefit the local community economically and enhance the competitiveness of industries in the Central Region, particularly Kuala Lumpur, at both national and international levels,” she said.
Also present at the meeting were the Chief Minister of Selangor, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari; the Chief Minister of Negeri Sembilan, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun; and the State Financial Officer of Melaka, Deputy Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Wira Salhah Salleh.
