Immigration detained 12 foreign workers at a gas station, offering car wash services

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 12 foreign workers working at a petrol station offering car washing services on a highway, here, were arrested in an operation by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM), yesterday.

Report Harian Metro, Director General of Immigration Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said, the operation was carried out by 17 officers from the Enforcement Division of the Putrajaya Immigration Headquarters at 12 noon.

“The location of the raid is the premises of a gas station that offers car washing services.

“This enforcement action was taken following a public complaint regarding foreigners working at the premises who were suspected of not having passports and valid identification documents.

“In this operation, 12 foreigners aged 25 to 35 years old were checked and arrested for various offences, including not having a valid passport or document and violating the conditions of the passport,” he said in a statement today.

Ruslin said the case was investigated in accordance with Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Rule 39(b) of the Regulations
Immigration 1963.

“All the prisoners are housed at the Depot
Bukit Jalil Immigration, Kuala Lumpur for further action.

“JIM will not compromise on foreigners who stay illegally, stay overtime and misuse passports in this country.

“Strict action will also be taken against any party that employs and protects illegal immigrants,” he said.
