Housewife Murdered: Husband, Son Remanded to Assist Investigation

KUALA KANGSAR: [UPDATED] Two family members arrested to assist investigations into the murder of a woman with a disability in Kampung Cheh Kati here were brought to the Kuala Kangsar Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for remand proceedings.

Magistrate Azlin Zeti Zainal Abidin issued remand orders against the two suspects, aged 15 and 44, to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The court allowed the 44-year-old suspect to be remanded for seven days, while the 15-year-old suspect was remanded for two days, beginning Thursday.

The 44-year-old suspect arrived at the court at about 8.33am, followed by the 15-year-old suspect, who was brought in a police van.

Yesterday, the media reported that a woman with a disability was found dead with injuries believed to have been caused by stabbing at her home in Kampung Cheh Hilir, Kati, here on Wednesday.

The victim, Nor Ainon Omar, 49, was found lying covered in blood at the village house where she lived with her husband and three children.

Kuala Kangsar District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Heisham Harun said police received a report on the incident at about 2.38pm after family members found the victim lying face down, unconscious and covered in blood in the living room.

He said preliminary investigations indicated that the incident was believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspects.

Police also recovered a knife suspected to have been used as the weapon in the incident.
