Housewife Dies: Told Husband Her Leg Was Stabbed From Beneath House, Knife Found in Plantation

KUALA KANGSAR: [UPDATED] “My leg was stabbed with a sharp object from beneath the house.”

Those were among the last words of a housewife with a disability, Nor Ainon Omar, 49, before she was found covered in blood at her home in Kampung Cheh Hilir, Kati, here on Wednesday.

The victim’s husband, who was at home at the time, was reportedly cooking when he heard his wife calling for help.

Kampung Cheh Hilir Village Development and Security Committee (JPKK) chairman Nur Halim Abdul Hamid said the victim’s husband then sought help from a resident who worked as a rubber tapper nearby before he was informed of the incident at about 2pm.

“When I arrived at the house, the victim was already unconscious and motionless. She also had an injury and was bleeding from her calf.

“The victim’s husband told me that his wife had managed to tell him that her leg had been stabbed with a sharp object from beneath the house through gaps in the floorboards,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

According to him, the victim and her husband lived at the house with their three children, and the family had been residing there for a long time.

He said one of the victim’s three children was not at home when the incident occurred.

“Villagers then helped search for the victim’s child before the 15-year-old teenager was found in an oil palm plantation near a school.

“The villagers persuaded the teenager to return home before bringing the child to see the mother. Police who arrived later also conducted checks and questioning,” he said.

Nur Halim said police also found a knife in the oil palm plantation after the victim’s child showed them the location.

Meanwhile, the victim’s sister-in-law, Suliana Jalaluddin, 37, said she learned of the incident at about 2.16pm after receiving a message from her brother, the victim’s husband, in the family WhatsApp group.

She said the victim, her husband and their three children shared a close relationship, and all of them received assistance from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

“The deceased was a person with a disability, as are all three of their children.

“The eldest child, aged 17, has a physical disability resulting from burn injuries sustained previously, while the other two children, including the one linked to this incident, have learning disabilities,” she said.

The victim’s body was subsequently taken to Taiping Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, Kuala Kangsar District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Heisham Harun said police received a report on the incident at about 2.38pm after family members found the victim lying face down, unconscious and covered in blood in the living room.

He said police subsequently arrested two men, both family members of the victim, who are believed to have been involved in the incident.

“Police also recovered a knife suspected to have been used as the weapon in the incident.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident is believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding between the victim and the suspects,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
