Haze: Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya Record Unhealthy API Readings

SHAH ALAM, Sept 19: Two areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8 am today, with Shah Alam registering 156 and Petaling Jaya 151.

According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, the reading placed Shah Alam among the areas recording the highest API levels in the country.

Kuching, Sarawak recorded the highest reading at 168, followed by Serian at 168, Seri Manjung, Perak (164), Samarahan, Sarawak (163), Sri Aman, Sarawak (161) and Sibu, Sarawak (160).

Apart from Shah Alam, Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur also recorded a reading of 156, while Cheras and Putrajaya each registered an API of 155.

Sarikei, Sarawak recorded 152, while Petaling Jaya, Nilai in Negeri Sembilan and Bintulu, Sarawak each registered an API reading of 151.

Other areas recording unhealthy levels included Kapit (126), Larkin (123), Tawau (122), Tanjung Malim (118), Bukit Rambai (107) and Tangkak (105).

At the same time, 37 areas nationwide recorded moderate air quality, while 10 areas were at good levels.

Under the API classification, readings between 0 and 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, and 101 to 200 as unhealthy.
