KOTA KINABALU :  Despite growing unease within Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) over Barisan Nasional’s (BN) inclusion in the state administration, GRS assemblymen remain firmly behind Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Rumblings began after BN was officially sworn in as part of the new Sabah Cabinet on Monday, joining GRS, UPKO, and Pakatan Harapan in the state government lineup. The move triggered visible discontent among several GRS representatives, with at least a dozen assemblymen spotted holding informal discussions at a hotel and others voicing objections on social media.

Klias assemblyman Datuk Isnin Aliasnih, who was among those photographed at the meeting, dismissed speculation of any political upheaval.

“We firmly back the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. Even the independents remain with us,” he said, adding that concerns over BN’s participation were not indicative of a broader movement.
“There is no developing plot. These discussions were simply about BN being part of the state government. It’s a small matter, and it can be resolved. The situation is under control.”

However, social media posts painted a more divided picture. Pantai Dalit assemblyman Datuk Jasnih Daya wrote, “Out of honor for my family and supporters, no Barisan,” signalling firm opposition to BN’s entry. Another circulating screenshot reportedly showed Tempasuk assemblyman Arsad Bistari expressing readiness to reject BN’s involvement.

Public groups online also amplified frustration, with posts stating that “the whole of Sabah has been lied to,” reflecting grassroots dissatisfaction over the political arrangement.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Joachim Gunsalam confirmed that BN is now officially part of the Sabah state government following the swearing-in ceremony.

Despite differing opinions within the coalition, GRS leaders insist that internal discussions are manageable and that the government remains stable under Hajiji’s leadership.
