The prime minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Emphasized that he will not compromise and rejects the culture of thuggery and bullying in the country’s education sector. He stated on the Wilayahku portal that he will never allow gangsterism culture to occur in education; however, he described the matter as only occurring within a small group of students.

“Don’t compromise.” We warn and advise that we must stop the culture of gangsterism and bullying in schools, including tahfiz and religious schools.

“This is a challenge for us. Principals, headmasters, Vicechancellors, and college deans also need to be responsible for finding ways to stop this bad culture,” he said at the Anwar Meeting Program held at the National Defence University (UPNM), Sungai Besi, Selangor.

He made this statement in response to the recent alleged abuse of a cadet officer at UPNM by a senior student. The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) declared yesterday that they will not make any concessions to any parties involved in the alleged bullying and abuse of a cadet officer at UPNM by a senior student. General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman, the Chief of Defence Forces, stated that his team is conducting a detailed investigation into the case.

Yesterday, the ATM announced in a statement that it is investigating the case of a cadet officer at the UPNM Military Training Academy (ALK) who is believed to have been bullied and abused by seniors, with an iron pressed against the victim’s chest, leaving burn marks as seen in social media.

Meanwhile, Anwar said that bad practices such as bullying need to be stopped because too many complaints have been received. “If the case comes to light on social media, we need to take action. Naya children,” he said.
