MAKKAH: On Wednesday, officials in the holy city of Makkah said that people who are performing the Umrah could store their bags for free.

The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque said that there are free storage areas to the west, near Gate 64, and to the east of the grand mosque, near the Makkah Library.

The Saudi Press Agency said that Umrah performers must show their passes through the Nusuk app in order to get into the facilities.

Umrah performers can store up to seven kilograms of bags, but not loose things, for up to four hours. Things that are considered valuable or illegal—food, drugs, and food—are not allowed. To get something back, you have to show a claim ticket.

The service will be expanded to all places around the Grand Mosque so that the authority can better help visitors, the SPA said.
