Fahmi Meets Yusof Haslam, M Nasir to Discuss Future of Local Film and Music Industries
KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil met two prominent figures in Malaysia’s creative industry, Datuk Yusof Haslam and Datuk M. Nasir, to discuss the direction and future of the country’s film and music industries.
In a social media post on Tuesday, Fahmi said the meeting with the Film Producers Association of Malaysia (PFM) deputy president and the renowned Malaysian music maestro also touched on efforts to strengthen local talent and productions to ensure the country’s creative industry continues to grow and remain competitive.
He said the MADANI Government remains committed to supporting the production of local content and helping more Malaysian works and intellectual property (IP) reach international markets.
“The MADANI Government will continue to support local content and help more Malaysian works and IP penetrate international markets,” he said.
Fahmi said current developments in the local film and music industries were also among the matters discussed during the meeting.
He stressed that continued support for the creative sector is important to ensure that local productions not only gain recognition domestically but are also able to reach global markets.
