Fadhlina to address issue of alcohol companies’ donations, sponsorships to Chinese schools
PUTRAJAYA: The issue concerning donations and sponsorships from alcohol companies to Chinese schools will be addressed by Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek.
Reported by Berita Harian, government spokesperson and Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil, stated that the matter was discussed in the Cabinet, and it has been decided that the Minister of Education will provide clarification on the issue.
“It was discussed (in the Cabinet meeting) and decided that the Minister of Education will respond later. Therefore, I request contacting the Ministry of Education regarding this matter,” he said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting here today.
When asked whether the government will establish guidelines for donations to Chinese schools, Fahmi also urged the media to refer to the Minister of Education.
Yesterday, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke was scheduled to provide an explanation to the Cabinet regarding the issue of contributions and sponsorship from alcohol companies to Chinese schools.
