SEPANG: Chants of “Daulat Tuanku” echoed through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) tonight as about 200 supporters gathered to welcome home the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

The atmosphere outside the VIP room at KLIA Terminal 1 was also punctuated by chants of “Arrest the Traitors” from some of the supporters present.

Most of them were seen dressed in black, while some of the men wore traditional Baju Melayu attire and songkok.

Some supporters also carried banners and placards while chanting words of support for Tuanku Muhriz, who was scheduled to arrive from overseas.

Also seen at the airport was His Royal Highness’ eldest son, Tunku Besar Seri Menanti Tunku Datuk Seri Ali Redhauddin.

The supporters gathered amid the ongoing dispute over Tuanku Muhriz’s position as the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, which has drawn attention in recent days.

Earlier, the Negeri Sembilan state government announced its collective decision that the proclamation to remove Tuanku Muhriz from the throne was valid and recognised Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar as the new Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

However, the Negeri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) maintained that Tuanku Muhriz remains the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, stating that there is no vacancy in the position as long as His Royal Highness continues to lawfully hold office.
