Classroom Almost Destroyed in Fire

GEORGE TOWN: A classroom was almost completely destroyed in a fire at a Chinese national-type secondary school in Ayer Itam here at about 7.54pm last night.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division Assistant Director John Sagun Francis said, however, no casualties were reported in the incident.

“A team of firefighters was dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire immediately after receiving an emergency call regarding the incident.

“The operation ended at about 9.22pm, and the case was subsequently handed over to the Fire Investigation Officer (FIO) for further action,” he said here today.
