CEO of MADACorp apologizes for failing to shake hands with the minister after a viral incident
KUALA LUMPUR: Abdullah Ismail, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MADA Agricultural Business Corporation (MADACorp), has issued an apology for his oversight in not shaking hands with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
According to the Wilayahku portal, he clarified that he had already shaken hands with Mohamad as soon as the minister arrived at the Madani Touch Program held at the Area Farmers’ Organization (PPK) Tajar Alor Setar last Monday.
“For everyone’s information, I shook hands with the minister as soon as he got out of the car. I then accompanied him as he greeted other officials.
“I had already shaken hands with him prior to that. So I was taken aback and made the mistake of not shaking hands with him again,” he said in a statement.
Previously, a video went viral showing Abdullah appearing to refuse to shake hands with Mohamad during a working visit to Kedah last Monday.
Meanwhile, Abdullah hopes that his explanation and apology will be accepted by all parties who were affected by his actions.
“I humbly acknowledge my mistake for not greeting the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security again, and I would like to apologize for the misunderstanding that occurred,” he said.
