KUALA LUMPUR: Train services on the Putrajaya Line are experiencing delays following a power supply disruption caused by a cable theft incident near Taman Equine Station early this morning.

Rapid KL said in a statement that the disruption was first detected at about 5.24am when a train was unable to move at Taman Equine Station.

Following the incident, a technical team was deployed to carry out inspections and repair works to restore the power supply and train operations.

To help passengers continue their journeys, Rapid KL activated alternative train services and free shuttle buses at several affected stations.

According to Rapid KL, trains from Kwasa Damansara Station will turn back at UPM Station at an estimated frequency of 10 minutes, while trains from UPM Station will turn back at 16 Sierra Station at the same frequency.

Shuttle trains from 16 Sierra Station to Putrajaya Sentral will operate at an estimated frequency of seven minutes.

In addition, free shuttle bus services are being provided between Serdang Jaya, UPM, Taman Equine, Putra Permai, 16 Sierra, Cyberjaya Utara, Cyberjaya City Centre and Putrajaya Sentral stations.

The buses are expected to operate at intervals of between 15 and 20 minutes, depending on current traffic conditions.

Rapid KL said the disruption is expected to result in longer waiting times on platforms, particularly at UPM, 16 Sierra and Putrajaya Sentral stations.

Passengers Heading to Sepang Advised to Use Alternative Routes

Meanwhile, passengers using the Putrajaya Line to continue their journey to Sepang via the Express Rail Link (ERL) service at Putrajaya Sentral are advised to allow for longer travel and waiting times.

Alternatively, passengers may use the ERL service via KL Sentral by taking the Kelana Jaya Line to KL Sentral or the Kajang Line to Muzium Negara.

Passengers may also access the ERL service at Bandar Tasik Selatan by taking the Ampang Line to Sungai Besi or Chan Sow Lin.

To ensure passenger safety and smooth movement, auxiliary police personnel and station staff have been deployed at station platforms and concourses to assist passengers.

Rapid KL said it takes the cable theft incident seriously as such incidents can affect the smooth running of services and operational safety.

Passengers are advised to refer to Rapid KL’s social media channels and the MyRapid PULSE journey planning app for the latest service updates.
